Fabulous food and friendly atmosphere
We visited on a disappointingly chilly August day and were quite happy to see the log fire roaring. We received a warm and friendly welcome and were shown to our table in the bar area. Our waitress was lovely and was always available but not intrusive. There is a good choice of food on the menu and everything is clearly homemade and of excellent quality. Between us we had a burger, a chicken and bacon Caesar salad and a salt beef open sandwich - all delicious. This was followed by a rhubarb rice pudding and an orange posset - again delicious and well presented. For a warmer day, there are tables outside and there is also a nice restaurant area. We visit when we come to see our friend but wish we lived nearer as the value and quality is superb.
Great family lunch
Went for lunch with family visiting from overseas. The staff were extremely helpful, especially as we had a small baby in a pram. The pub is great for visitors as it includes all the best features of a traditional English country pub.
All of the food was excellent and the lunch menu is reasonably priced with a good selection. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Delicious, beautifully presented food in lovely surroundings. The service was prompt but relaxed and staff were friendly and attentive. We took our friends who were visiting and we were all very impressed. Thankyou so much x
Lovely family meal
Catered for party of 7 well, good atmosphere, food, service, reasonably priced. Good vegetarian options
Went for dinner last minute on a Tuesday night. It was cosy and a brilliant atmosphere as usual! We had the burger and I have to say it's the best burger I have EVER eaten! Definitely going back for another!

Can you give stars for a place we didn't actually eat or drink? We decided to walk (25 mins) to the pub and get some food. They weren't serving during the time that we arrived and were fully booked for that evening. As we were hungry and tired, the kind owner drove us to another place that could feed us! Thanks, and very much appreciated! ...1 star lost because the downloadable lunch menu didn't include the service times! ;-)
